How the game works
You get a handful of letter tiles and an empty square. Place every tile around the edge so that all four sides spell a word. The corners are shared, so each one belongs to two words at once.
Four puzzles arrive every day — 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 and 6×6 — and they change at midnight Central. Everyone playing gets the same four squares.
There is usually more than one right answer. Any four real words that close the square count, not just the one the puzzle was built from.
The archive
Today’s four puzzles are always free. The archive lets you play the days you missed, and it can be unlocked either with a one-time purchase or a monthly plan. Both give exactly the same access.
Restoring a purchase
New phone, or reinstalled the app? Open the archive, tap See the price, then Restore purchase. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID, so nothing is lost.
Cancelling the monthly plan
On your iPhone: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Perfect Square Word Game → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage subscriptions here.
Cancelling stops future charges. If you bought the one-time unlock, it is not a subscription and there is nothing to cancel.
Refunds
All purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through them rather than through me. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Common questions
- My square is all real words but it says it is not solved. Every word must read the ordinary direction — rows left to right, columns top to bottom. Nothing reads backwards or upwards.
- I need to be online? Only occasionally. The app ships with puzzles built in and downloads more in the background so everyone stays on the same square each day. Playing itself works offline.
- Do hints count against me? No. A hinted square still counts as solved and still holds your streak. The shared result mentions which hints you used.
